How to send Location/Address to Navigation apps or InstaTodo

If you've got some Navigation apps or InstaTodo on your iDevice you can use myPhoneDesktop to send geo Location/address information to that  apps directly from your Desktop or Web-Browser. Currently supported apps are:

  • NAVIGON MobileNavigator
  • MotionX-GPS Drive
  • InstaTodo
  • TomTom

You can use either myPhoneDesktop Bookmarklet (preferred) or Desktop/Web Client:

Using Bookmarklet with Google Map

  1. Open Google Maps and navigate to desired Location/address
  2. Click on the Link button in the upper right corner to show popup
  3. Click the "Send to myPhoneDesktop" Bookmarklet
  4. A myPhoneDesktop popup will be show allowing you to choose an action you can do with that Location/Address
  5. Click on desired action
  6. Geo location/address will be sent to your iDevice and will be opened with corresponding app

Using Desktop/Web Client

You can use either Google Maps or Bing Maps services:

Using Google Maps

If you use Google Map there are couple ways you can send Location/address to iDevice:

Option 1

  1. Open Google Map Google Maps and navigate to desired Location/address
  2. Click on the Link button in the upper right corner to show popup
  3. Copy data from the "Paste HTML to embed in website" section and Paste it into the Text View of myPhoneDesktop
  4. Click the "Additional Actions" button action.png and choose corresponding "Open with ..."  or "Add Location to InstaTodo" option
  5. Geo location/address will be sent to your iDevice and will be opened with corresponding app

Option 2

  1. Open Google Map Google Maps and navigate to desired address
  2. Click on the address push-pin
  3. From the pop-up click on the "More" link and choose the "Send" action
  4. Select the "Send to | GPS" option. Select "NAVIGON" in the "Brand" drop-down
  5. Click the "Send" button. This will open your default web-browser window and show you address that was selected on map
  6. Copy data from the browser's address bar and Paste it into the URL View of myPhoneDesktop
  7. Click the "Additional Actions" button action.png and choose corresponding "Open with ..."  or "Add Location to InstaTodo" option
  8. Geo location/address will be sent to your iDevice and will be opened with corresponding app

Using Bing Maps

1. Open Bing Maps http://www.bing.com/maps/ and navigate to desired address2. Click on the address push-pin 3. From the pop-up click on "Send to Email" link4. Select "GPS" option5. Select "NAVIGON" in the "Brand" drop-down6. Click the "Send" button. This will open your default email app and create new email with location url populated in the email body7. From email body Copy url that starts with http://www.bing.com/maps/... and Paste it into URL View of myPhoneDesktop (note: use myPhoneDesktop system-wide shortcut i.e., Cmd+C+C (Mac) or Ctrl+C+C (Win) to send data to myPhoneDesktop)4. Click the "Additional Actions" button <insert image> and choose "Open with Navigon" option5. Geo location/address will be sent to your iDevice and will be opened with Navigon MobileNavigator app
  1. Open Bing Maps and navigate to desired address
  2. Hover over the address push-pin to see pop-up
  3. From the pop-up click on the "Send to Email" link
  4. This will open your default e-mail application and create new e-mail with the location URL populated in the e-mail body
  5. From e-mail body Copy URL that starts with http://www.bing.com/maps/... and Paste it into URL View of myPhoneDesktop
  6. Click the "Additional Actions" button action.png and choose corresponding "Open with ..."  or "Add Location to InstaTodo" option
  7. Geo location/address will be sent to your iDevice and will be opened with corresponding app

Note: If Geo location/address you sent to Navigon is outside of your Navigon app coverage (Depending on your Geo Edition of Navigon) - Navigon will not be able to process received address. For example: if you use Navigon MobileNavigator USA edition but you send Canadian address, Navigon will not be able to open requested address unless you have Navigon MobileNavigator Canada
