How-to Add Tasks from myPhoneDesktop

To add tasks to to-do apps on your iDevice you need to type a task list (or paste it) into the myPhoneDesktop Desktop/Web Clients' Text View and choose the "Todo" button.

Note: You will need to have either InstaTodo (http://www.instatodo.com) or Appigo Todo (http://appigo.com/todo) installed on your iDevice.

TIP: The "Todo" button always adds new to-do to a previously selected default to-do app. You can always change default app by choosing the "Additional Actions | Default Todo App" menu or you can explicitly add to-do to a specific app by choosing appropriate action in the "Additional Actions" menu.

Task list needs to be typed in the simple plain text format where each task starts with an asterisk (*) or a bullet (•) and occupies just one line. For example:

* Task 1

* Task 2

* Task 3

You can also specify task's due date (and due time if needed) at the beginning of the task followed by a comma. In the following example "Task 1” has its due date/time set to 09/02/2010 10:20 AM:

* 09/02/2010 10:20 AM, Task 1

* Task 2

* Task 3

Note: due date and time must be specified in the correct Region Format defined in your iPhone (see iPhone's global Settings | General | International | Region Format)

It’s possible to add list of tasks as a Project. To do so all the project tasks must be outlined by a ‘TAB’ character. For example:

* Project 1

* Task 1

* Task 2

* Task 3

TIP: Press the TAB key to increase indent (outline) of a whole line or SHIFT+TAB key to decrease indent.

It's possible to specify a list to put a Project to. I can be done by specifying the name of the list followed by | before the name of the Project. For example:

* My list | Project 1

* Task 1

* Task 2

* Task 3

Note for Appigo Todo: At this point it is not possible to push several tasks at once to Todo app due to limitation of its API (this should be improved soon according to an Appigo representative). Because of this a Project Task will be created when adding tasks to the Todo app. You’ll be prompted to specify Project Task (in the usual task format) when sending tasks to iPhone. If no Project Task is specified then an “Unnamed Project” will be added by default.
