how secure are the sms messages transfered to our iphone's, are they plain text?

like the topic says: how secure is the transfer from the application on the computer to the iphone?
you use SSL for the connection, but what about the sms text itself? the myphonedesktop team 'could' read our messages right?
if not, please explain me why this is secure. there must be some kind of random or user code generation on the computer application and then on the iphone to encrypt the sms message to make it secure. otherwise we only have some words from the team and have to trust this. is this feature planned if it's not done yet? :)

thank you for this information, but this is not exactly what i meant.
this article only gives information about the connection, but not about any encryption of the sms messages itself.
maybe you could give us more information about that? :-)
