On my PC, Windows Vista Business (french-belgian keyboard), after the installation of myPhoneDesktop, it was no more possible to enter the characters with circumflex (ê) or ë. A first look on forums indicated the possible presence of a virus, but my antivirus was ok. Uninstalling myPhoneDesktop solved the problem (and I didn't reinstall it back, of course).
char
ê became ^^e, for example, in all my editing programs (notepad, Excel, Word,...)
Same thing is happening with me... I am using Windows XP and my keyboard is set up to Portuguese language... Please fix it! Thanks!
We are working to resolve this issue. Can you try to set myPhoneDesktop shortcuts to None (see screenshot), click Apply button and restart myPhoneDesktop. Let me know if this would resolve these character issues.
Hi Alex, I did what you asked: 1. Settings -> System Options -> Shortcut: None -> Apply, 2. Exit the application, 3. Start the application. However, the issue is still there. Thanks!
Got it. Thank you. Couple more:
a) what keyboard are you using
b) can you try the following and let me know if this change resolves your issue:
1 (if running) Close myPhoneDesktop application
2 Navigate to myPhoneDesktop folder in your Start Menu.
3 Right click on myPhoneDesktop shortcut and choose the Properties menu item.
4 Select the “Shortcut” tab in the myPhoneDesktop Properties.
5 Add the following to the Target field The Target field should read (note: line below assumes myPhoneDesktop.exe installed in its default location):
"C:\Program Files\myPhoneDesktop\bin\myPhoneDesktop.exe" -no_hot_key_manager
6 Press the OK button to save changes
7 Start myPhoneDesktop application
Let me know if you still experiencing issue after this change
I am using Portuguese keyboard (not sure how to check it in more details)...
Anyway, your workaround works! I followed your steps and now the issue has gone!
However, just to let you know, the "Shortcut" option under Settings is not available anymore (you can't click on it)... But I really don't care about it... Thanks!
Just to let you know that after a PC restart the issue was back... Then I had to exit and restart the myphonedesktop application again for the workaround take place... Thanks
José, Thanks for the info. I am glad that this workaround worked for you. Yes, this workaround will kill shortcut manager. This is temporary. We are working on resolving this issue. The reason your problem got reintroduced after system reboot is because you have a shortcut for myPhoneDsktop in your startup folder. You need to replace it with the shortcut you modify it earlier.
Thank you.
José, can you tell me exactly what keyboard you are using (model and maker). Thanks
I have a HP Compaq nc6220 laptop. In "Keyboard" under "Control Panel", it says: "Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard with HP QLB" and the Manufacturer is "HP".
Anyway, it is ready for Portuguese Brazil. Hope it helps...
OFF TOPIC - Can we send data from the iPhone to Desktop via myphonedesktop app? Or it only supports send data from Desktop to iPhone?
Thank you. I think we found what causing problem and will address this ASAP. Thank for the info and your patience. Regarding sending data from iDevice to your desktop - this feature would be available in the next version(s)...
Thank you.
Just an update: looks like we've fixed this issue. The fix will be avalilable in the upcoming release v1.4
